It’s been a while since I’ve done a style post, huh? Don’t worry. I still get dressed every day and, on occasion, it’s stylish. I was really feelin’ my outfit today so I thought I’d snap some pictures and revive my short-lived days as a fashion blogger. Really I just want to show off how cool my new shoes are. I seriously can’t get enough of these Nikes (I can’t seem to find an active link for you to snag a pair of your own; mine are from Nordstrom). It’s been in the neighborhood of 110 for the past few weeks in Phoenix and honestly, this is about all the clothing I can stand to wear. Any of you suffering from the hot, hot summer heat too?

A big part of my quest to slow down is appreciating the beauty and creativity that lies beyond my pinterest boards and computer screen. I’ve been spending more time taking photos, reading books, and drinking cheap wine with my friends all in an effort to find new sources of inspiration. I graduated from an art school last May and got to know some incredibly talented creatives while I was there.
I took a textiles class with Shelby where we bonded over knitting scarves and our crazy professor. After that semester, I switched majors but Shelby stayed in fashion and honed her skills. If I’m ever lacking in inspiration I pull open her collections and die happily over the well-placed details in her beautifully constructed garments. I know we all have spring on our minds but Shelby just released the images for her F/W 2013 collection and I couldn’t resist sharing.
That gold skirt? I’m 100% sure I need it in my life. You can check out the rest of the collection on her website and if you’re lucky enough to be in Chicago you might get to see these beauties up close and personal. Which is your favorite!?
I’m a single lady (insert kick-ass Beyonce dance moves here) but if I had a date for Valentines day, I’d wear this outfit. This sparkly dress is unbelievably fun with a completely sexy backless element. With red heels, red lips, and an oversized red flower in my hair it completely fits the holiday without feeling over the top themed. This dress is my new favorite dressy piece and I can’t wait to tone it down for a more daytime-friendly look.

What are you wearing out for Valentines day? Do you have a special date or are you spending the night with friends? Or perhaps you ignore the holiday altogether? I, for one, adore Valentines day–even more so when I’m single! A day to show that you love the people in your life? What’s not to love!?
Frye boots are the best boots. There, I said it. They’re beautifully constructed, classic in style, and compliment my wardrobe in all the right ways. While I can’t afford to buy them off the shelf, I have been very lucky to come across a few pairs second-hand. I scored this pair years ago when I worked at a consignment shop for a mere $2. Best two dollars I’ve ever spent, honestly. They feel so rugged that I almost always pair them with a dress–you know I love to have that contrast of styles in my daily wear. Keeping with the theme of reusing clothing, my dress was purchased for a special occasion and has gotten a surprising amount of wear. I’m really guilty of buying fancier dresses, wearing them once, then retiring them to my closet forever. This dress feels casual enough that I’ve been able to wear it time and time again–it’s become the model by which I judge my other fancy dresses!
When I was in college I dated a drummer. He was completely adorable with a scruffy face, the sweetest eyes, and this incredible dark curly hair against his light features. He was incredibly talented and college-Malori was totally smitten. In the freezing Chicago winters I used to love cuddling up with him and his various vintage flannel shirts. One night when we were hanging out I thought it would be hilarious to wear my flannel. Of course, my version of flannel was pretty different than his. When I showed up at his apartment I told him I dressed up as him for the night then laughed at my own joke for way too long.

I must say, I really enjoyed wearing my flannel for the night and have since brought it into my wardrobe on a regular basis. Paired with these boots it takes on a biker-esque look and is deceivingly comfortable. These thigh-high boots are toned down over jeans but still pack a pretty bad-ass punch visually. This is one of my all-time favorite looks.
