365 Project – Week Two

I’m playing catch up. I spent the past 10 days traveling through Virginia and Chicago and unplugging from reality (kind of). It was a really special trip and I am back home feeling incredibly energized and creatively charged. I’m doing relatively well keeping up with my photo challenge but definitely am missing a few days here and there. Here are my daily images from January 3 – 9. I’ll be back later this week with the other images from my vacation to get fully caught up. I’m loving this challenge and already feel like my photos are slightly better simply because I’m more thoughtful about having my camera on me.

365 Challenge

I’m still building my list of goals for this year (and still working my way through my list of 101 in 1001) but I decided that I wanted to improve my photography skills this year so I’m picking up on the, now very dated, 365 challenge. I’ll do my best to post them once a week on Saturday and share bits of pieces of life. Hopefully this will also force me to be creative on days when I feel stuck. Here are days 1 & 2.

Did you make any New Years Resolutions? Link up in the comments. I’d love to follow along :)!

Seattle

You aren’t tired of hearing about my PNW vacation yet, right? Awesome. Here are my favorite snaps from my days in Seattle. I got to spend time with my sweet friend from college and her baby girl, eat a piroshki, blow through the fish market, visit the gum wall, eat some incredible pasta, and look out on the gorgeous water views. I’ll have a Seattle food post up later this week but for now, a few photos from my visit!

Portland

The middle of my vacation was spent in Portland, OR. It’s a short drive from Tacoma (though there was an insane amount of traffic that stretched the drive considerably). Initially I wasn’t loving Portland. The downtown was extremely crowded, dirty and smelled unpleasant. We walked past many banks, chain stores, and shoddy restaurants and felt more and more disheartened the longer we were there. After checking in to our Air BnB, my friend and I decided to turn to Yelp and Facebook for recommendations. I am so glad we did because the trip immediately turned around. We spent the rest of the weekend sifting through cool local shops, eating incredible food (check back tomorrow), mocking the museum (that gets its own post too), and totally loving Portland. I am already plotting my next trip now that I know where to stay, what to eat, and how to shop in Portland.
