It’s been a while since I’ve done a style post, huh? Don’t worry. I still get dressed every day and, on occasion, it’s stylish. I was really feelin’ my outfit today so I thought I’d snap some pictures and revive my short-lived days as a fashion blogger. Really I just want to show off how cool my new shoes are. I seriously can’t get enough of these Nikes (I can’t seem to find an active link for you to snag a pair of your own; mine are from Nordstrom). It’s been in the neighborhood of 110 for the past few weeks in Phoenix and honestly, this is about all the clothing I can stand to wear. Any of you suffering from the hot, hot summer heat too?
A big part of my quest to slow down is appreciating the beauty and creativity that lies beyond my pinterest boards and computer screen. I’ve been spending more time taking photos, reading books, and drinking cheap wine with my friends all in an effort to find new sources of inspiration. I graduated from an art school last May and got to know some incredibly talented creatives while I was there.
I took a textiles class with Shelby where we bonded over knitting scarves and our crazy professor. After that semester, I switched majors but Shelby stayed in fashion and honed her skills. If I’m ever lacking in inspiration I pull open her collections and die happily over the well-placed details in her beautifully constructed garments. I know we all have spring on our minds but Shelby just released the images for her F/W 2013 collection and I couldn’t resist sharing.
That gold skirt? I’m 100% sure I need it in my life. You can check out the rest of the collection on her website and if you’re lucky enough to be in Chicago you might get to see these beauties up close and personal. Which is your favorite!?
This outfit isn’t necessarily “trendy”, but it definitely feels like fall. This is the last in my Fall Trends series and I think it’s perfect to end on this note. I generally don’t wear a lot of browns because I’m not great at styling them. I never know what colors work with brown but this outfit is perfect!
I love the peter pan collar and the playful pattern that almost acts as a neutral because of the darker colors. Also, how incredible is the sheer back of this top? Such a sexy little surprise! I would have never picked up a pair of brown pants on my own but these were so fabulous that I’ve officially added them to my wishlist.
This is the last of my posts from Art Effect. A huge thank you to my wonderful friend Alex for helping me coordinate this and for styling such fantastic outfits for me. I can’t wait to work with Art Effect again.
Is it bold to say my favorite trend, in the history of trends, is over-sized polka dots? When I saw this ensemble laid out for me at Art Effect I audibly squealed. This is the sweater of my dreams!!! I immediately envisioned myself wearing it with skinny jeans and flats for a day at work or paired with a fierce pair of shoes for a night out. When paired with this sweet skirt it immediately became a perfect outfit for an early fall brunch. The colors in this are so versatile while the pattern is a great play on such a classic pattern. I really can’t get enough of this ensemble and you can bet I’ll include this sweater in my closet for many seasons to come.

Remember those fabulous faux leather leggings from Tuesday? Well they’re back again for today’s fall trend post. In my opinion, the most important part of wearing trends is mixing them with pieces you will always love. For me, stripes are a staple in my wardrobe. If my pieces aren’t a solid color, they’re striped or polka dotted; what can I say, I know what I like!

I really loved these leggings and when I walked past this striped shirt I knew they would be perfect together. I love the versatility of these leggings and I’m certain this shirt could become a well-worn favorite in my closet. It’s so fun mixing my classic style up with the trend of the season! Thanks again to the Art Effect gals for letting me crash their store.
