Some Kind of Wonderful

When I was in college I dated a drummer.  He was completely adorable with a scruffy face, the sweetest eyes, and this incredible dark curly hair against his light features.  He was incredibly talented and college-Malori was totally smitten.  In the freezing Chicago winters I used to love cuddling up with him and his various vintage flannel shirts.  One night when we were hanging out I thought it would be hilarious to wear my flannel.  Of course, my version of flannel was pretty different than his.  When I showed up at his apartment I told him I dressed up as him for the night then laughed at my own joke for way too long.

I must say, I really enjoyed wearing my flannel for the night and have since brought it into my wardrobe on a regular basis.  Paired with these boots it takes on a biker-esque look and is deceivingly comfortable.  These thigh-high boots are toned down over jeans but still pack a pretty bad-ass punch visually.  This is one of my all-time favorite looks.

LRD

I have about a million little black dresses. I have fancy styles and casual styles, ones with sleeves and ones without, and I’ve got one in just about every length you might need. Even though I love, love, love my LBD’s I’m starting to mix in some LRD’s. There’s something so bold about a red dress. It makes a huge statement and sets you apart from the crowd. The dress has so much attitude that you really don’t have to supply any of your own. It’s perfect. I pair this dress with boots so it doesn’t feel too feminine and add minimal jewelry because the peplum is plenty. It’s one of my favorites!

So this is Christmas…

Plaid Coat and Romper

Christmas in Arizona is NOT white.  In fact, it’s brilliant blue dotted with fluffy clouds and buckets of sunshine.  But don’t worry–we still get festive.  This outfit makes me feel especially festive with the plaid coat and the gathered romper.  I love that I’m alllll legs in this ensemble.  If you live in a colder area this look could easily be adapted with a heavier coat, some tights, and a pair of booties.  In Arizona this is just the right amount of layering.
